HAPPY VESAK 2559BE

Having a wife, who is a practicing Buddhist, and I, being on my own spiritual path–I could not let the Buddhist Holiday of Vesak(or Wesak) pass without acknowledging the day that commemorates the Birth, Enlightenment, and Passing of Siddhartha Gautama or Buddha.

I covered my Facebook timeline with links to facts, photos and proclamations of Vesak throughout the day. Tonight, on this blog, I will leave you with links to some of the things I posted and a photo taken by yours truly.

What is Vesak?

United Nations Letter of Celebration

The Secretary-General of the UN, Ban Ki-moon closed his message regarding Vesak 2016 with these words, “On this Day of Vesak, let us pledge to reach out to bridge differences, foster a sense of belonging, and show compassion on a global scale for the sake of our common future.”

I close the day with these words.

May all beings have happiness and be free of suffering. May you practice compassion in your lives to all beings.

HAPPY VESAK 2559 BE (2016)!
