Antarctica: A Year On Ice

New Zealand Filmmaker Anthony B. Powell’s first film, Antarctica: A Year on Ice is now streaming on NetFlix.  It’s not a road everyone would want to travel, but living and working at the South Pole has been a dream of mine since before I was a teenager. (And I really can’t stand cold weather; so the reason is not logical)

This film is inspiring, beautiful, interesting, and funny. You’d be doing yourself a favor to watch it.  I found it interesting that living and working near the South Pole is covered by a treaty of 52 country states regulated by a treaty, 54 years old, that predates the Cold War and existed all the way through that era.  No military battles, no border disputes.  Science is the code.

It’s a road, I would gladly travel…if I can come up with the right reason to be approved by the powers that be.

One Response to Antarctica: A Year On Ice

  1. Come up with a scientific study and apply for a grant through the National Science Foundation. Maybe a study on the role humor plays in keeping your sanity in an isolated and desolate environment.
